The ball classification machine enables the automatic sorting of grinding balls used in ball mills according to their diameters. Operating with a trommel screen system, the machine can classify balls ranging from Ø12 to Ø96.

Once the balls are loaded into the machine in bulk, they are transferred to the screening unit via a vibratory feeding system. The helical guide channels inside the screen ensure balanced material distribution, providing a homogeneous flow and a stable feeding rate. This design allows balls of different sizes to be classified with high efficiency and precision.

In traditional systems, single-layer fixed screens operate with a tolerance of ±3–4 mm. Manual loading, high operator dependency, and the need to stop the system after each operation significantly reduce efficiency.

Developed by CMS Engineering, the modern ball classification machine is equipped with a multi-layer vibratory feeding unit and a rotary screening system. It can separate balls with a diameter precision of ±0.5 mm. Thanks to its PLC-controlled automation infrastructure, it operates fully automatically without the need for operator intervention. The modular screen design allows easy configuration for different diameter ranges. It offers high hourly throughput capacity and is suitable for integration into continuous production lines.
